Julia graduated as a Medical Doctor from the University of Cape Town in 1998 and was first introduced to children’s palliative care while living in Oxford in the United Kingdom where she worked at Helen House, the very first children’s hospice. Julia is currently Deputy Director and Head of Clinical Services at Umduduzi. In her role, she consults in children’s palliative care and trains health professionals and medical students. She is a sessional lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics, Nelson Mandela Medical School, University of KwaZulu-Natal and is also a workshop facilitator for the Medical Protection Society.
